Media narratives shouldnât shape your success - here's why.
GOOD MORNING FROM ELITE AGENT
Wikipedia kicked off 24 years ago today, and letâs face it, where would we be without it? No one wants to be the agent who confidently describes a Tudor-style home as 'built by King Arthur' or insists that Feng Shui is a type of sushi.

MOTIVATION
Stop reacting to market sentiments
In the real estate industry, relying on market sentiments and media narratives creates a reactive mindset that limits professional growth and consistency.
Andy Reid, renowned auctioneer and real estate coach, challenges agents to stop letting headlines dictate their actions and instead adopt proactive, structured communication and operational strategies.
Stop reacting to news bulletins
Andy argues that the real estate industry is overly reactive to media narratives, which leads to inconsistent operations. âThe market sentiment only affects the people it refers to - our customers - and it shouldnât affect how we operate,â he says.
By interpreting media thoughtfully and maintaining steady processes, agents can reduce income fluctuations, better serve clients, and regain control of their business outcomes.
Structured communication builds trust
One of the biggest challenges Andy identifies is inconsistent communication with clients, particularly vendors. âWeâre happy to talk to them regularly when the marketâs running well, but if itâs slow, we tend to go missing,â he says.
He advocates for setting clear communication standards in offices so clients feel informed and confident, even in slower markets. This approach not only reduces anxiety for clients but also eliminates reactive mindsets among agents.
Focus on solutions, not excuses
Andy points out how the industry often uses media headlines as excuses for inaction or poor results. âClients donât need us to regurgitate headlines; they want solutions!â
By developing a standard approach to interpreting and using media insights, agents can focus on actionable strategies that drive results, regardless of external market conditions.
âWe need to direct conversations toward what we do know, instead of what we could know,â he says.

Michael Bacon, now co-director of Place Kangaroo Point at just 26, has risen rapidly through the real estate ranks.
From starting with $240 in his bank account to leading one of Queensland's most dynamic offices, Michael credits his success to staying true to himself and understanding his âwhy.â "You need to understand what your 'why' is and have a vision of where you want to go in your life," he said. "Otherwise, it's very hard to get there."
Michael will share his real estate journey at The One Conference.
