The real estate industry is evolving, and leadership and influence are no longer just about who sells the most.

Looking back through our Industry Influencer lists since 2017, one thing stands out - what we value as leadership in the real estate industry has changed fundamentally.

Now that we've been able to quickly analyse data (thanks to generative AI) from these lists over a long period of time, it's worth pulling some threads together and creating a story.

1.The Gender Gap is Closing

For years, the influencers lists were heavily male-dominated. Now, we’re seeing more women rise to the top, taking on influential roles and shaping the industry's future.

2.A Shift in Conversations

It’s not just about sales figures anymore. Conversations have broadened to include mental health, wellbeing, community support, and cultural diversity.

3.From Buzzwords to Real Solutions

Tech is no longer just a buzzword. Today, the focus is on transformative tools that genuinely streamline processes, improve access to data, and empower agents to do more with less effort. Leaders driving these changes are solving real problems and shaping a smarter, more efficient industry.

While there’s a lot of good to come out of these trends, there is still a question: Are we moving quickly enough to tackle the challenges ahead?

Success in real estate isn't about grand plans – it's about understanding your current position and your desired destination. What truly distinguishes top performers is not their ambitious goals but their daily habits and commitment to personal growth. You can create a clear path forward by focusing on work volume, quality, and consistency. More from Mark McLeod here.
