London’s very own White House

If you’ve ever fancied being President of the United States, but politics isn’t really your thing, the good news is you still have a chance to live the life of the Commander and Chief. A home in London with an uncanny resemblance to the White House has just hit the market for $57M. The Palladian-style mansion is big but falls short of the 5000sq m of living space on offer at its Washington, DC counterpart. However, as an added bonus, the London version is set on the River Thames. More here.

Anything else?

Selling with citrus

It’s common knowledge that homely aromas like ground coffee and baked goods can make a house feel more welcoming to potential buyers. However, surprisingly, the smell of citrus is the one that drives up the price of a home. According to a realestate.com.au field test, during an open for inspection, a home with a citrus smell was thought to be worth over $100,000 more than the same property that had a lingering odour of smelly socks. It shows that looks aren’t everything when it comes to buying real estate.
