Good Morning from Elite Agent

Introducing family-friendly workplace policies could help your business attract and retain employees that are less stressed and more satisfied with their work-life balance. That’s according to the 2024 National Working Families Survey, which found that 41 per cent of working parents believe their parental leave is too short, and 28 per cent say they have thought about leaving their jobs in the next year due to difficulties combining work and caring responsibilities. More here.

Today, we are also covering:

  • What the Budget means for real estate

  • How to tune in, or out, that voice in your head

  • Investors target beds and sheds

  • Australia’s biggest listed real estate companies

  • And much more!

Federal Budget 101

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has delivered his third Federal Budget, forecasting a surplus of $9.3B, handing out almost $2B to increase the maximum rate of Commonwealth Rent Assistance and predicting that inflation “could” return to target this year. That’s on top of pre-Budget housing initiatives to accelerate housing construction and address homelessness across Australia. Jim stressed the Budget provided responsible economic management in the face of “fragile global conditions” but said Australia was well placed to navigate the uncertainty. More here.

Just 10 days to go…

There’s less than two weeks until AREC2024 and so far a record 3700 delegates have already signed up to attend. According to Izzy Savva, the Head of Total Real Estate Training, the organisers of AREC, the event is fast approaching capacity. “The learnings from industry leaders, all of whom have created their own strong personal brands and how to leverage that in a competitive real estate market is proving to be a real drawcard. Examples are Ryan Serhant, Gavin Rubinstein, Mat Steinwede and Sarah Hackett, who we feel have really resonated with our own delegate audience,” she says. Of course, here at Elite Agent, we’re also super excited about this year’s lineup of PM speakers, including Fiona Blayney, Bec Turner, Shaye Wallis and our very own Samantha McLean. Shane Kempton: It’s not you or true

Have you ever listened to that inner voice in your head? Well, it turns out there are actually seven of them that narrate, analyse, critique, and cheer you on throughout your life and career. In the first of a two-part series, Shane Kempton reminds you that while these voices play a pivotal role in shaping your perceptions and reactions, they are not always the bearers of truth and you can learn to tune in or tune out. Here’s how.

From hidden history to home highlight

In a stunning discovery reminiscent of unearthing a hidden Michelangelo masterpiece, New York journalist Frank DiLella stumbled upon a historic Rafael Guastavino vault inside his newly purchased Manhattan co-op. The revelation came to light during a meeting with co-op board member Andrea Rapaport, sparking a whirlwind renovation. The dramatic find not only recaptured a lost piece of New York's architectural legacy, but also transformed Frank's living space, marrying the grandeur of the city's past with the personal story of his home. Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

As we’ve mentioned previously, the year 1984 is considered by many to be one of, if not the, greatest year in music. And it was on this week 40 years ago that Lionel Richie sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with Hello. Deniece Williams, with Let’s Hear It For The Boy, came in at #2, while Against All Odds, by Phil Collins, charted at #3.
