You see, according to Melbourne ‘fruit nerd’ Thanh Truong, who has researched this stuff, deep fruit bowls trap ethylene – a natural gas emitted by ripening produce, which also speeds up ripening in nearby fruits. Apparently, the solution is to store fruit on separate plates, arms distance apart. Hmmm…. interesting. If this tip takes off people are going to need bigger kitchens. A fun fact to tell your potential buyers perhaps?!!
