Reviving Baltimore, one dollar at a time
Baltimore has launched a program allowing individuals and community land trusts to buy city-owned homes for as little as $1 to encourage renovation and boost homeownership. The initiative, BuyIntoBmore, also offers homes to non-profits and developers at varied prices, with applications processed on a first-come-first-served basis. City Council President Nick Mosby voted against the plan, expressing concerns that it does not prioritise existing residents and might displace lower-income individuals. Similar programs have been implemented in other cities, including a previous initiative in Baltimore during the 1970s. More here.
