Shani Costi’s big move

Commercial property buyer’s agency Costi Cohen has appointed Shani Costi as general manager, as it looks to significantly grow the brand over the next 12 months. Shani comes to the role with extensive experience in real estate and says not only has the agency sealed some big deals of late, they’re also looking to grow, including interstate. More here.

Luna Park on the market

Sydney’s amusement park, Luna Park, has hit the market and is expected to fetch about $70 million in an EOI campaign. CBRE agent Simon Rooney has the listing and said the iconic attraction, was so much more than an amusement park, describing it as “the beating heart of Sydney”. More here.

French castle for less than a house in Australia

What price would you put on a French castle in Allogny? Would you appraise it at more or less than a Mount Druitt home in Sydney’s West? Well, as it turns out, the two attract pretty similar asking prices. The 13-bedroom castle, complete with original mouldings, parquet flooring, wood panelling and fireplaces, is on the market for 861,000 euros, or $1.38 million, while a three-bedroom Mount Druitt abode is priced at $1.242 million. Maybe living in a castle isn’t just a fantasy. More here.

National handshake day

Riddle me this. Today we’re celebrating something real estate professionals do many times every day, yet it was also something you couldn’t do during Covid. Do you give up? It’s national handshake day. The origin of the handshake is unclear, but it may have originated as a sign of peaceful intention among two people since shaking hands means that the hand can’t hold a weapon. These days, it can be a greeting or a sign of a deal being done. If you want to know how to get more deals over the line, real estate coach Claudio Encina has some ways to deal with buyer objections.
