Aussie investor's island splurge stuns the US

Australian investor Michael Dorrell has made waves in US real estate by purchasing a $US150 million private island in Florida's exclusive Palm Beach. The 10 Tarpon Island estate, the only private island in Palm Beach, boasts a luxurious 11-bedroom mansion with extensive amenities, including a spa wing, tennis court, and outdoor entertainment spaces. Dorrell, chairman and CEO of Stonepeak, acquired the property at a reduced price from its initial $US187.5 million listing. More here.

A Mitsubishi robot in Japan has set a new Guinness World Record for solving a Rubik's Cube in just 0.305 seconds. It surpasses the previous record of 0.38 seconds, set by an MIT robot in 2018. The TOKUI Fast Accurate Synchronised Motion Testing Robot, named after the project’s lead engineer, achieved the feat with advanced signal-responsive motors and an AI-driven colour-recognising algorithm. The new record significantly outpaces the human record of 3.13 seconds set by Max Park in 2023.
