The Brief together with AI Powered Agents

Good Morning from Elite Agent

US artistic gymnast Simone Biles has finished her Paris Olympic campaign with three gold and one silver medal. It’s a far cry from her 2020 Tokyo campaign, when she was forced to withdraw due to the ‘twisties’, a dangerous mental block where a gymnast loses their position of their body in the air. According to high-performance expert Jennifer Dulski, there’s a lot leaders in any industry can learn from Simone, who she says turned things around by listening to her body and mind, taking a break, modelling the behaviour she wanted to be accepted in the sport, creating a support network and tuning out the haters.

One agent, and former elite athlete, who knows the importance of having a support network, or a “pit crew”, is Marshall White’s Kate Strickland. She reveals her three ‘must-have’ support crew members here.

Today we are covering:

  • Interest rates on hold

  • Andy Reid on the value of loyalty

  • A landmark squatters rights ruling

  • Kay & Burton’s new director

  • And much more!

On our radar

Interest rates on hold

The Reserve Bank of Australia has kept interest rates on hold at 4.35 per cent at its meeting yesterday, but Governor Michele Bullock stressed that monetary policy will need to be “sufficiently restrictive” until the Board is confident inflation is moving sustainably towards the target 2-3 per cent range. Of course mortgage holders are holding out for a rate cut, but the timing of when that may come is the cause of some conjecture, with our panel of experts predicting a cut could come as early as November or not until June 2025.

Out of this world

On this day back in 1959, the Explorer 6 satellite launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, marking a significant milestone in space exploration by capturing and transmitting the first photograph of Earth via satellite. The image, which took about 40 minutes to reach a ground station in Hawaii, showed an unpolished view of the north-central Pacific Ocean while orbiting over Mexico. Operated by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Explorer 6 played a crucial role in studying Earth's upper atmosphere and paved the way for future space missions, leading to the historic lunar landing just a decade later.
