“They said it”
“I’m not saying it’s not a big deal, the legislation, but I think if people take a sensible approach to how it’s going to operate in reality, I don’t know that it’s going to cause too many problems for our industry.”

Tassie’s housing smorgasbord
The Tasmanian Government has vowed to allow pets in rental properties, boost its Private Rental Incentive Scheme and abolish millions of dollars in stamp duty costs if re-elected in next month’s State Election. But not to be outdone, the Opposition has promised to help landlords make energy-efficient upgrades to their properties and pledged $5 million to improve 2500 public and social housing homes. Get all the details here.
RE/MAX leadership shuffle in the US
RE/MAX LLC President and CEO Nick Bailey has been replaced as head of the franchisor in the US, but the move will not impact the Australian arm of the international network. RE/MAX announced Amy Lessinger would serve as president, with Nick leaving the company. But RE/MAX Australia Managing Director Joel Davoren said the franchise here was largely autonomous and had experienced a great start to 2024. More here.

Golden oldie gets a makeover
There has been many a real estate re-brand/brand-refresh already this year, but in 2024, the world’s oldest branding will finally undergo a redesign for the first time since the 1880s with Lyle’s Golden Syrup finally getting an update. The lion’s head and mane will remain, as will one bee, in a more vibrant, modern take on the old logo. One agent who knows a thing or two about building a brand is WHITEFOX CEO, Marty Fox.
