SEIZE MARKET CHALLENGES
Instead of waiting for the market to improve or denying current conditions, embrace challenges as opportunities to gain market share. This proactive mindset will set you apart from those who are merely reacting to market fluctuations.

On our radar
Managing the death of a tenant
When Living Here Cush Partners Property Manager Katelin Currell recently had a tenant pass away at one of the properties she managers, she knew she had to take care of two things. She had to meet the legal requirements and obligations to her landlord, but she also had to handle the situation with the tenants with compassion and make the process as easy as possible for them. She explains what property managers need to do if they are ever in that situation here.
Taking the plunge
Harcourts Ulverstone & Penguin team members have taken an icy trip down the town’s water slide to raise more than $10,000 for Motor Neurone Disease. The event, held in conjunction with the Ulverstone Football Club, was the second time the agency had held the Big Freeze Slide, which coincided with former AFL player, coach and MND sufferer, Neale Daniher’s Big Freeze 10. Check out the picture of Harcourts Tasmania CEO Tony Morrison taking the icy plunge here.

Rapid sales sparking market recovery?
House sales in Portugal declined in 2023 due to a shortage of affordable housing, high-interest rates, and inflation. However, 2024 shows promise with falling interest rates and new homebuying incentives, such as the IMT exemption for young people, leading to faster home sales. According to idealista, 11% of homes listed on their site in the first quarter of 2024 sold within a week, with Faro leading the way at 33% for "express sales." This trend suggests a revitalised housing market, driven by improved affordability and buyer support. More here.

Shortest day of the year
Australia will experience its shortest day of the year today, as the southern hemisphere reaches its winter solstice. The winter solstice, which marks the day with the least daylight hours, occurs when the hemisphere is at its furthest tilt from the sun. Daylight hours will vary across the country, with Darwin enjoying 11 hours, 23 minutes, and 45 seconds of daylight, while Hobart will see just 9 hours and 50 seconds. After this, each day will gradually get longer until the summer solstice on December 21, 2024.
