Interest rate debate

The big question on everyone’s lips today is what’s going to happen with interest rates? Inflation figures have come in much lower than expected, at 3.4 per cent, but will that be enough to prompt the RBA to cut rates today? According to Finder’s panel of economists and experts, the answer is ‘no’. All of their experts say the RBA will keep rates stead at 4.35 per cent at today’s meeting, while 10 per cent predict a drop in May, and 25 per cent say the first cut won’t arrive until 2025. More here.

New listings surge

New listings surged last month, with the combined capital cities recording their busiest February in more than a decade, according to the latest PropTrack Listings Report. New listings on realestate.com.au rose 29.9 per cent month-on-month, and were up 16.6 per cent compared to a year prior. Find out what’s behind the surge here.
