Good Morning from Elite Agent

It appears top real estate coach Marnie Beauchamp might be onto something when she recommends starting each day in your office with a happy dance. Marnie says it will “instantly brighten everyone’s mood” and now there’s scientific evidence to prove it. A study from the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany, reveals moving to music, or dancing, may be the best exercise for mental health. It’s also great for preserving cognitive function and building resilience. So, what are you waiting for? Boogie into the weekend…. we are!

Today we are covering:

  • Does “telephobia” affect your agents?

  • Ryan Serhant's rise to Owning Manhattan

  • David Walker and Charles Caravousanos expand

  • Real estate credit is booming

  • And much more!

Does “telephobia” affect your agents?

The phone is one of real estate’s most used tools. But, are younger agents too scared to pick it up and say hello? It’s possible, with a 2023 survey of more than 1000 Gen Z Aussies (across varying professions) discovering 60 per cent dread making or accepting a phone call. So, what should you do if your team would rather text or email rather than let their voice be heard? It could be as simple as following Murdoch University’s lead with its journalism students and practising making calls. More on that here.

And if you’d like some tips on how to get on top of telephobia, check out three top articles on the topic:

The name on everyone’s lips in real estate right now is Ryan Serhant. Not only did he kill it on the AREC24 stage, he’s now front and centre in a new Netflix hit, Owning Manhattan, which has gone Top 10 in 40 countries. In this favourite flashback, Ryan joins us on the Elevate podcast to reveal how he crafted his success, what you need to do to build an instantly recognisable brand and why real estate success is all about “following up, following through, and following back”. Land for just 1 krona

A small town in Sweden is selling plots of land starting at 1 krona per square metre. Götene, about 300 km from Stockholm, is on a mission to attract people to the area to combat the low birth rate and ageing population. Plots of land usually cost 500,000 krona, or $71,000, so not only are you getting a bargain but also a ‘high quality of life’ according to the Mayor. More here.

Jeff’s big idea pays off

On this day in 1994, Amazon.com was founded by Jeff Bezos. Since then the company has gone on to become one of the greatest success stories in history. Bezos has often said that the most important thing for entrepreneurs is to focus on the customer. He believes that if you make your customers happy, everything else will fall into place. If you want to focus on the customer in real estate, Darren Krakowiak shows you the difference between being accommodating and becoming a doormat. More here.
