Australia’s most tech-enhanced apartment complex will be built in Melbourne, with features including an air purification system and a smart oven that listens to your commands and answers your cooking questions. The 51 apartments in Drummond House will also feature smart fridges where residents can remotely view its contents, as well as two cinemas, a business centre and a health and wellness area with a sauna, salt therapy room and hot and cold baths. Marshall White Projects Director Leonard Teplin said in a saturated market, it was no longer enough to simply upgrade finishes, tomorrow’s apartments had to make residents’ lifestyles easier. Betting on homes - will this racetrack be re-zoned?

Residents in Auckland’s Avondale have been left stunned by plans to turn the suburb’s racecourse into housing. The Avondale Jockey Club has made a submission to Auckland Council to rezone the 35ha parcel of land, but elected not to consult with the community before making the application. Rezoning the land could mean the end of racing at the track and local residents would prefer to keep the land as green space. Council will hear the application in October. If you’re a Swiftie, today is a BIG day. American hitmaker Taylor Swift will drop her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, this afternoon. And if you, like us, are looking at the album title and wondering if it needs an apostrophe, you’re not alone. In fact, there’s been quite the debate about whether it should be Poet’s or Poets’. Then again, if the department is studying tortured poets, just as a sales department focuses on sales, no apostrophe is needed.
