Good Morning from Elite Agent
One property, 25 registered bidders, 87 bids and $430,000 above reserve are the key numbers the dilapidated house at 21 The Parade, Enfield, recorded when it sold at auction for $2.41M last weekend. Of course, this is the same rundown home we brought you last week, after discovering listing agent, Matthew Blackmore, had combined with buyer’s agent, Jason Ballo, for a viral marketing campaign that attracted more than 1M views on social media. Looks like the campaign worked! And you can find all of the deets on the campaign and eye-popping pics of the home here.
Today we are covering:

Balance renter and landlord needs
The REIV has called on the State Government to phase in new minimum rental standards and offer landlords incentives to avoid destabilising an already strained rental market. The move comes after the government proposed new rental standards, including requirements for ceiling insulation, draught proofing, hot water and cooling efficiency, from October this year. REIV President, Jacob Caine, says the institute has made a submission on the issue, with five key recommendations, including providing financial assistance for landlords to make the changes. Fruit salsa, yummy, yummy!
The Christchurch earthquake of 2011 may have brought the city to its knees, but 13 years later, the ‘red zone’ in the city has a whole new lease on life. While it may no longer be a liveable area, more than 2000 fruit and nut trees, which were once in people’s backyards, are laden with produce. They’re also free for the public to forage from. And that’s exactly what Japanese-born Kiwi-raised chef Sachie Nomura did recently while recording an episode of her foodie road trip series for Stuff Travel. And, in case you were wondering, she made polenta-crumbed fish with foraged fruit salsa. Yum!

Watching an autograph book tower in value
We know Gavin Rubinstein’s met Delta Goodrem and Chasse Ede has listed Daniel John’s investment property, so it’s not too out of the ordinary for getting a star’s signature to turn into a windfall. But that wasn’t even thought of when elderly Essex woman Sara Bland, 70, secured Jimi Hendrix autograph when she was just 14. But, 56 years after she bumped into the legendary guitarist at the local town centre, she’s sold her autograph book and made a cool £2,000 ($AUD3801). More here.
