Agencies are feeling optimistic

There’s no doom and gloom this winter, with more than 90 per cent of real estate agency owners anticipating revenue growth over the next 12 months. According to the NAB Real Estate Industry Insights Survey, 86 per cent of agency owners are also looking to grow their business this year, regardless of what the market is doing. Getting the right staff in place is one of the key challenges for most offices, while acquisitions are a popular growth strategy. More here.

Property battles

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree allowing Moscow to seize US property as compensation for frozen Russian assets in the United States. This comes in response to Washington and its European allies blocking approximately $300 billion of Russian financial assets following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The decree mandates Russia’s state commission on monitoring foreign investment to identify US-owned assets, such as real estate and securities, for potential confiscation, with the necessary legal adjustments to be implemented by the end of September. Turning to the dark side

China has successfully landed the uncrewed Chang'e-6 spacecraft on the moon's far side, aiming to collect the world's first rock and soil samples from the dark lunar hemisphere. The landmark mission elevates China's status in the global space race, joining the US and others in pursuing lunar minerals for future moon bases and long-term astronaut missions. The Chang'e-6 probe, which launched on May 3, will gather 2kg of lunar material, offering unprecedented insights into the moon's unexplored regions and the solar system's formation. More here.
